The purpose of teacher blogs is to inform students and their families of day-to-day learning and activities throughout the school year. We will continue to communicate learning opportunities and will provide links to online learning resources through these blogs. Important information related to all school decisions will continue to be emailed to parents/guardians and can also be found on the CBE website ( www.cbe.ab.ca ). Thank you,

Hello everyone, I hope that you have had a good week. It has been eventful with current events. We have been continuing to work on some of the basic processes for baking and in a kitchen. These are time management, planning and organisation. With the white cake you have been making cupcakes and practicing the creaming method. Overall we have been finding some struggles with meeting expectations for keeping the kitchen clean and completing the tasks on time. We will continue to practice next week.

Hello all, Good work this week. We continued to work in baking and looking at some of the fundamental techniques that are good to learn. We looked at whisking egg whites and incorporating them into pancakes to make them lighter. We also looked at creating cake, and using the techniques of making it homogenous, fluffy and light. Have a great weekend.

Hello all, Good work this week. We moved from the basics of making cookies, which we were doing to practice our time management and increase our comfort in the kitchen, to scones. Scones are a simple thing to make but it highlights how the impact of technique and process will have on the final product. We will continue this investigation this week and you will again practice the “cutting in the fat” process to create a flaky and delicate end product. Have a good weekend.

Good work everyone, This week we had a chance to use some of the skills and kitchen experience that you have been developing by you having the freedom to pick your own task using chicken. Overall I hope that you see how much more comfortable and skilled you are in the kitchen. Much like many of the skills that you work in in school, the more you practice them and use them the more comfortable you become and skillful you get. Sometimes it is hard to see the growth we have in the moment but please think about where you started. Have a great weekend and next week we will take in your foods projects and get the kitchen clean and ready for the break.
